	Before iAvatar

**They came looking for a second chance. The Na-vii people teach that everyone lives two lives: In the second life, you become one of the people. This is the story of war, peace, hatred, love, and finding yourself. Inspired by the epic motion picture, Avatar:**

iAvatar

Earth. Once a place of hope and promise. Not any more. The year is 2147. My name is Carly Ann Shay, and this is my story: I was 17 when I boarded the shuttle to Pandora. I wasn't the one who was supposed to go. My identical sister, Cindy was the one with the training, the Avatar made of her DNA, and the experience. However, before the ship took off, she was murdered for the paper in her wallet. Fortunately, our DNA was practically identical, so I was asked to take her place. I didn't do it for money or fame, I did it for a second chance.

I was 5 years old when I lost my legs in a car accident. I was devastated, but I had to keep going. Life was never easy: The kids at school used to mock me for being in a wheelchair. They mocked me, beat on me, but worst of all, they told me I would never be like one of them. Maybe things'll be different on Pandora.

After 8 years in criogenic slumber, the other soldiers and I were awoken, and told we were hours away from our destination. The others ran out, grabbed their luggage, gear, and oxygen masks (the air on Pandora wasn't breathable to humans, so the masks were to be on your person at any and all times). I, on the other hand, had to be helped into my chair, then push myself towards the different areas of the ship, the cournal bitching at me the entire time to go faster, muttering insults at me every chance he got. It didn't matter, I was used to it. Looking down at the majestic planet, I realized how truly fortunate I was to be here. We made it, Cindy, I thought. Earth would survive, I knew.
